Pre-race routine:

Breakfast this morning prior to leaving consisted of one cup of coffee, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, and one apple.
Event warmup:

Did a brief warm up by swimming in the lake. Helped with my swim anxiety.
Swim
  • 15m 26s
  • 500 yards
  • 03m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Today's swim went so much better than last weekends in Canton. Took a different approach today to the swim. Got in the water and warmed up ahead of time and lined up near the front and outside this time instead of the back and inside. Very happy with my swim today. Swim time looks a little bit long but there was a long run from the water to the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing besides continue to train more and get more swim endurance.
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

T1 is still a bit shaky for me. Seemed like it was faster today but still room for improvement and efficiency in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Need to work on getting into shoes on bike and just being faster in T1.
Bike
  • 46m 58s
  • 13 miles
  • 16.61 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Need to continue to work on the bike. Still not completely comfortable on my bike. Need to add some aerobars for next year and a custom fitting to my bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Good job in T2 today. Decided to run without socks to decrease time spent in T2. Had some trouble getting one of my shoes on. Think I will try putting powder in them next time.
What would you do differently?:

Will try powder in running shoes so they slip on easier.
Run
  • 29m 26s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt like my run went ok. Took me about a mile to really get my legs going. Then on mile 2 felt really good. Mile 3 was really tough.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Post race hydration and meal.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Conditioning. Need to continue to work on brick workouts and swimming for sure.

Event comments:

Very good race. Will definetly try to do this race again next year but think I will do the long course instead of the short course. Very well organized, well marked, and on time. Only complaint was that the bike course was only marked at miles 5 and 10. Wish it would have been marked every 2 miles like at Canton.
