Pre-race routine:

Had toast with peanut butter on it for breakfast. Got to race at about 6:45am, this was much better than getting there too early and waiting around. Only problem was that I forgot my goggles. One of the volunteers found some for me though. My swim wave started at 7:35am.
Event warmup:

Put on my wetsuit.
Swim
  • 10m 14s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was very happy with the swim. This was my first open water swim and I did not know what to expect. I was very happy to see my time. I purposely tried to slow myself down so that I would not run out of breath on the swim.
What would you do differently?:

I might try to go a little faster. I may have been a little over paranoid about wearing out.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

I purposely went slow because I wanted to make sure I was not out of breath when I got on the bike, but I was surprised to see how slow I did go. 3 minutes!
What would you do differently?:

I need to go faster on this.
Bike
  • 53m 20s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.88 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt very good about the bike. I obviously did not set any time records but much better than my last triathlon. The last triathlon I did I was out of breath the whole time and this one I felt good.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

This is slow and needs improvement.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions
Run
  • 30m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Again did not set any records but felt very good about the run compared to my last triathlon.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Had a pancake and bottled water, green tea.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just need more experience.

Event comments:

Very good race. I will do it again. I had a fairly bad experience with my last tri- just being out of breath the entire time and feeling bad. So, overall I thought this tri was successful, not so much for my time but just feeling good overall. Now I can focus on improving times.
