Swim
Comments: The only way we were able to warm up was if the wave before us all finished before it was time for us to start. Well that didn't happen and I wasn't paying attention to the time. So as I was flirting with the lifeguard who counted laps and looked and realized I only had :30 till start. Threw on the cap and goggles and was ready to go. Swim was nice and pretty short, kept a pretty easy pace and was never really gasping for breath. Got out of the water 2nd in my wave. :04 faster than last year. And the water was warmer than last year so I was stoked. What would you do differently?: Go harder Transition 1
Comments: I was dumb and tried to get my cap off before my goggles and was like "why won't the cap come off?" Got the bike and was out pretty quick. I had troubles once I mounted the bike trying to get my shoes on...so that cost me some time. What would you do differently?: Get better at putting on my shoes. Bike
Comments: So I've been having hardcore problems with on the bike nutrition. Apparently I can't take on sodium unless its watered down gatorade...even no that much of it. So for this ride I just took 1 water bottle...and the whole ride I was wishing it was gatorade!! But at least I knew I was properly hydrated and that my mouth and body wouldn't dry out from Gatorade. It was just an out and back course with a few areas you had to slow down but nothing massive, minus the turn around was really sharp. Was passed by 2 more people here, one older, one younger... then passed the guy who beat me out of the water. What would you do differently?: Push harder...especially on such a short race. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty basic, racking the bike was hard due to being at the end of the wooden rack with a cross beam going down so I couldn't hang my bike, I just had to rest it against the beam. What would you do differently?: Nothing, went pretty well. Run
Comments: Woo Hoo, fastest Run split!! minus the guy who was in my AG but got 2nd overall...so he doesn't count. ALSO FASTEST 5K EVER!!! Not just in a Tri but also beats my just running 5K time by 2 seconds. Gameplan was to just go hard and suck it up for 21min! I passed the older guy who passed me on the bike but couldn't pass the younger kid...turns out he ran XC in high school and ran a 1min faster 5K. He was a good rabit though and I tried to chase him down the whole time even though at the turn around I knew it wasn't gonna happen. I took water at the first 2 water stops...there were 3 in the first 3/4 mile... wish I didn't skip the last one though because I started to cramp a tad before the water stop at the turn around. So the whole race I only took water...and it seemed to work damn well. What would you do differently?: Can't improve much since it was my fastest 5K Post race
Warm down: Notta, walked around and ate. My wave started at 7:40 and the awards didn't start till 2pm-ish so there was a lot of waiting around and watching other racers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really. I think the bike leg kept me from my goal of breaking 1 hour, if not the bike then just getting into my bike shoes. Event comments: I like this race, its a great first timer and community race but there are also some damn good competitors out there. I only won my age group by 13 seconds, and that was to another WVU Tri Club member. So it was a good race! Last updated: 2006-04-17 12:00 AM

Woke up and got there about 90min before my start time. Ate half a muffin and a GU with water.
Did about 4min of bike and got in the big gear then 4 min of running. No swim warm up...I'll explain later.
