Swim
Comments: Great swim course in a great lake. You've got to dodge some breast strokers if you start in the back, and that was determined for you. What would you do differently?: Train more. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition in the area. It's been a LONG time since I raced, but transitions are really easy as long as you keep it simple. There was a quick, steep incline right out transition, which was sort of difficult to get up with my feet out of my shoes, but I managed. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: HILLY.... and I did all my bike training on a trainer. However, it was a fun and challenging course. A big long climb at the start, big rollers in between, and then down that climb back into T2. My speed ranged from 7mph to 42mph. What would you do differently?: Train more Transition 2
Comments: Not my best ever, but it will do. Had some issues getting the shoes on. My feet were SOAKED with sweat. It was humid as hell, so I was dumping cold water on my head a lot while riding. That water made it's way to my feet. I actually ran the wrong way out of transition until I saw everyone else going the other way. Probably cost myself a good 10 seconds. What would you do differently?: Go the right way. Run
Comments: I don't really want to talk about it. It's my own fault for pretty much ignoring my run training. Didn't help that it was angry swamp hot. A poor performance. What would you do differently?: Train a lot more. Post race
Warm down: Water in me, water on me, more water everywhere. Took forever to cool down, then I just started sweating again because it was already in the mid-nineties. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat, the humidity, and a few more excuses. The reality is my training wasn't where it needed to be. I think this race jump started some "want to" though. Event comments: Awesome local race. Very organized and a fun course. Just wish I had been more ready for it. Last updated: 2011-06-29 12:00 AM

Woke up around 4:00. Drove over, about an hour and a half, in the morning. Made a few "pit stops" along the way. Drank some OJ, checked in, racked up.
Got in to test swim entrance and exit. That's it.
