Total Time = 54m 19s
Overall Rank = 22/691
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 4/23
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, little bit of bread and honey, out the door!
Event warmup:

Stood on the beach gawking.
Swim
  • 06m 43s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got tangled in the first buoy's rope! Then got kicked a couple times and climbed on, otherwise it was a very solid swim, I was happy with it, though no drafting occurred since I couldn't find anyone good to draft off of, also sighting was tricky since the course had us staring into the sun.
What would you do differently?:

Not get tangled in the rope! Maybe try to draft better.
Transition 1
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

My bike had fallen over during the swim, doh! So had to stand it back up... also took a while to get the sand off my feet and into my bike shoes, cost me precious time.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my bike is secured properly, maybe try the elastic bands to hold the bike shoes on the pedals so I can just put them on on the bike course... I'll have to practice it.
Bike
  • 24m 59s
  • 9 miles
  • 21.61 mile/hr
Comments:

YES! I finally averaged over 20 mph!! Though it was a short course, I still am happy since it shows that all the bike practicing has been paying off. The hills were tackled very well, I'm quite happy with this result. Though was dehydrated a bit, couldn't keep my fluids in during the bike, puked a few times.
What would you do differently?:

Bike harder! Try not to puke all my water up.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Had some issues dismounting and some issues getting shoes on right.
What would you do differently?:

Not put the lock laces on the night before, also practice dismounting.
Run
  • 20m 18s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

It was a hot, hard run, probably because I left most of my water on the bike course. Pushed it real hard though, all my running practice has paid off big time!
What would you do differently?:

Splash water on myself during the run to stay cool
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the beach and drank water, checked out the NRG Bar stand (those things rule!).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming like a granny and not hydrating enough. Though I felt good during the swim, I need to improve it a lot.

Event comments:

It was an alright race, though it started kind of late and the ceremonies were late and dragged out, it was a nice race though with a beautiful course.
