Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/18
Pre-race routine:

Cereal and coffee 2 hours before the race.
Event warmup:

Swam out and back a couple times.
Swim
  • 10m 2s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Did a much better job on sighting this time. Also handled the contact better. I was happy with my swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Glasses fogged over with the high humidty the second I put them on. I have never had them fog up on me before. They cleared up some once I started moving, but remained slightly foggy the entire way through the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Need to try out going sockless.
Bike
  • 46m 7s
  • 16 miles
  • 20.82 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike went well, nothing unexpected. Brought a water bottle with and took a drink 3 times.
What would you do differently?:

I probably should have put the pro 3 tires on my bike that I just bought, but left the gatorskins on. Also, looking into getting a tri bike rather than using a road bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

I forgot to untie my shoes, so wasted time getting them untied.
What would you do differently?:

I have some yankz that I need to start using rather than dealing with shoe laces.
Run
  • 21m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

I was getting a side stitch as I was nearing the top of the hill. I am not sure if this was due to drinking too much water (although I didn't think I drank much) or just the difficulty of pushing up the hill. I had to take it a little easier than I planned for about a mile so that it didn't get worse. Once I started heading down the hill it went away.
What would you do differently?:

push harder.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around the finsih line area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to work on correcting my swim stroke. I think I need to push a little harder throughout the race. It may just have been the end of the run being downhill, but I felt I still had a lot left coming into the finish line.

Event comments:

There were a lot of volunteers and it was very well organized.
