Swim
Comments: Started in back, relaxed. First half had some issues with congestion - mainly slower folks in front (usually stopping or going to breast stroke). Second half much better, Sighting was good and swimming was smooth. Wetsuit was the right call - not overheated at all. What would you do differently?: Maybe start even further away from the congestion despite a little longer distance. Transition 1
Comments: Long run to my bike location. Suit came off as expected. Socks and bike shoes were probably the biggest show ups. Didn't feel as disoriented as my first tri. What would you do differently?: Maybe its time to thing about no socks - especially for a sprint. Bike
Comments: First race on a tri-bike (Felt B16) purchased 3 weeks ago. Not enough time on it, but still felt relatively comfortable. Just not ready for the hills as most of what little time I've had was spent getting used to aero. Bike bottle included Gatorade Endurance. What would you do differently?: Just more time on the tri-bike. I'm a novice bike rider to begin with and it will take me some time to have good results. Possibly a gel and or S cap before the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Second transition area. Used speed laces effectively. Took gel and water. What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: Tough first loop. Uphill sections were a challenge and the temperature was coming up. Stomach did not feel great. Took my bottled water from T2 with me. Second loop was better, but slow overall. What would you do differently?: Just make sure I am properly fueled for the run. Hilly bike course and hot weather got the best of my run. Post race
Warm down: None, just more liquids at the finish, and then gathering items from 2 transition areas and riding bike (again uphill!) back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: More time on the tri-bike and just more bike training in general including hills. Event comments: From a participant standpoint the 2 transition areas is a little challenging. Swim course was fine. The bike and run courses were challenging (very hilly). Satisfied to finish. Just need to temper expectaions by factoring in the race venue. Last updated: 2011-07-01 12:00 AM

Pre-race nutrition 2.5 hours before the start. Registration and transition set-up began 1.5 hours before the start. 2 transition areas to set up. Set up bike to run (T2) first then rode bike to the swim to run (T1).
Set up took longer than expected. Didn't get warm up swim in as I ran out of time. Barely wetsuit legal (77 degrees) but decided to go with it. Hot waiting for the swim. Gel and S cap 20 minutes before.
