Swim
Comments: The official numbers have not been posted yet, so I don't know exactly how long my swim was according to tribluesky. However when I looked at my watch coming out of the water, that was my time. It doesn't count the 250 yards from the shore to the transition area. Overall, I was pretty pleased with my swim. I kinda got off target a few times, but immediately corrected. I didn't get beat up which made me worry during the swim. I thought I would get out of the water and be the last one in the lake. Yes, I know it was a lake, but I kept thinking about the shark thread that was posted earlier this week...bring a pocket knife and poke a swimmer around you. Well it kept my mind busy during the swim at least. What would you do differently?: Swim faster, but I am not sure how to do that. Transition 1
Comments: I felt like I took my time during this transition. I could have been faster I suppose. What would you do differently?: be faster Bike
Comments: When we were waiting in the water for the swim start, Don asked me if I had my bike in the right gear. Well...that was a nice time to remind me! I did not. When I got on the bike my bike was really in the wrong gear! I change the gear and you would have thought I was 16 again learning to drive a stick shift. If you can grind gears on a bike, I did it. It sounded terrible. Anyway, I got up the hill right out of the transition area and dropped my chain. Phoey. I fixed it and took off. I felt really good on the bike. I felt strong and passed people left and right. Not too many passed me. It was awesome. My bike computer read that my average was 18.9. Transition 2
Comments: I took the time to get some water in before starting my run. I think that is what slowed me down. Run
Comments: I was pretty slow during the run. I knew that my strongest competitor was behind me maybe 1/4 a mile and she is a strong runner so I wanted to make sure I stayed in front. The last mile was pretty much downhill so once I hit it, I ran fast. I thought I was going to have a heart attack, but I am glad to say I didn't. I beat the girl. Post race
Warm down: 2 bananas and 1/2 bagel. Event comments: Some people don't like the tri the parks, I guess since I haven't done too many other races, I don't have anything really to compare. I think next year I will revisit a few of the races that I liked in this series, but venture out and tri some other races as well. Last updated: 2006-04-18 12:00 AM

We went to Hartwell which is about 20 miles away from the race and stayed in a hotel there. I hate staying in a hotel because I never get decent sleep the night before, but the race was far enough that it would have been difficult to drive that morning. I had my boys with me, so I also had to be "Mama" while getting myself ready. I had 3 mini bagels, toasted, plain and part of a diet coke before the race.
I was a little nervous.
