Swim
Comments: Water was smooth and great. My plan was to start off very easy and just coast. I havent swam much in the last 4 weeks so wasnt expecting anything great. About 100 ft from the boat ramp it was like shin deep water. I got up took about 4 steps thought it was getting deeper and decided to dive back in. Well the water got shallower and I chest planted into the mud. Abrupt stop. I laughed. My son was the first person on the boat ramp, big high five and I am off. I got out hit the garmin and was very surprised to see 15:00. The back was still giving me a little trouble. But like normal about a mile on the bike and its all good. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Was about 2 min faster than expected and the mud plant was funny. Transition 1
Comments: Everything was good. I took about 30 seconds to stretch out the back and then was off. Bike
Comments: Another son was at the bike mount line, high five to him. The out was a slight down grade. Very slight 15erwee0ft drop over 12.5 mi. My plan was to hit that a little harder than on the back. I was feeling pretty dead on the way out. I was pushing but just not going. Even the down hills seemed slow. I was really doubting myself and just disappointed. I was looking for the grass and weeds to see if there was a head wind I didnt realize or was thinking it was the nasty chip seal road. About .25 mi from the turn around I decide there has got the be something. I check the brakes and DOH the back break is rubbing. With the bumpy road I couldnt hear it rub. Reached back opened it up and made the turn around. So 43:00 out and 40:00 back What would you do differently?: I do need to get better at riding and drinking. Dont practice it much since I ride the trainer 90% of the time. Too much coasting to drink. Transition 2
Comments: It went well. Run
Comments: Water station at run out 2 of the boys got moved there. More high fives. This is where the weird stuff happend. I got off the bike and felt good. The first .5 mi of the run was through the wood in shade it was nice. For some reason my stomach was so full I couldnt run. It was like I just ate at an all you can eat and went and tried to run. I drank 2 bottles on the bike so I dont knwo if that was it. Too much air swalled on the swim, sucked in air on the bottles I am not sure. I was full of fluid and boalted feeling. Walking I was ok then I would try and run and it just wasnt happening. The belly was hurting and plus with it feeling so full it was hard to take deep breaths. I drank no water on the run and it was warm. I didnt feel dehydrated at all. That fullness was with me for like 2 hours after the race. Man if I could have puked it wuold have been great. Bad thing about the iron stomach, it wont puke when you really want it to. Post race
Warm down: Not much as I really cant say I ran much. What limited your ability to perform faster: The bloated belly from hell. Event comments: Prett new outfit doing the race and I think they did great. Its a perfect pre race for the US open so I think I will be back next year. Last updated: 2011-07-05 12:00 AM
