Pre-race routine:

Normal stuff. up at 4:30, 2 pieces of toast w/ Peanut butter. Drive 45 minutes to event. Setup Transition, Scoped out longish run from pool to t1.
Event warmup:

Swam 100 or so yards for warm up. Did some sprints in adjacent parking lot. Waited for my swim start time.
Swim
  • 04m 24s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

As I said from last weeks Tri the Worx, I need to learn to fudge my time better on the event applicaton. I would have cust another 45-60 seconds off my swim time.
What would you do differently?:

input a more accurate time, or use the same math that a lot of slower swimmers use.
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Good t1. I ran really hard after the swim to my bike. I setup my road shoes so that I only had to get my feet in, and rachet the top strap. The run with the bike was nice cause it was grass and my clips acted like cleats, so i could really hump that run. It all paid dividends as I was #1 in t1!!!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 30m 20s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.78 mile/hr
Comments:

good course except for the sharp turn around.
What would you do differently?:

slow at the turn more
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

I ran by my rack and it took a couple to realize that. On my side saddle dismount my right cleat got stuck in the pedal and I almost ran over a spectator. This cost me few seconds.
What would you do differently?:

practice the side saddle dismount and ask santa for tri shoes so I dont have to worry about unclipping
Run
  • 27m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

For a fat guy, the humidity sucks.
What would you do differently?:

more running practice with speed work
Post race
Warm down:

just caught my breathe and walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Humidity and the engine

Event comments:

Good race for me! I am not sure why I chose to race as a clydesdale, I am thinking a typo when registering. If I raced AG, I would have been 5th out of 35.
