Swim
Comments: Run - Bike - Swim (Last Event) Started a little fast, got mixed in with the pack, pool lines were a little different than I'm used too. Got disoriented briefly...switched to breast stroke...returned to crawl after a lap. Pace was faster than on my training swims. What would you do differently?: Take off my race belt before jumping in the pool. (The race numbers do hold up in water by the way) Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Out and back on kind of a "Y" shaped course. Heavy winds added some challenge. Did most of my passing on the hills in a headwind.Saw a guy on a Huffy Mtn. bike ahead of some guys on road racing bikes. Gotta love this sport. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Flat, paved single-loop route. Utilized my fuel belt, and took a drink every five minutes. Didn't think I pushed it too hard, but got a faster split than expected. Post race
Warm down: stretching What limited your ability to perform faster: I held back some on the bike and the run, because of another bike/run event I was participating in the next day. Despite not putting in 100%, I was only about a minute slower than last year, and five minutes faster than two years ago. The wind definately didn't help. Could have swore the wind was blowing in the pool too (enclosed structure) Event comments: My wife finally got to do this race after having to sit out for two years because of injuries. Made a "weekend" of my trip to Albuquerque: Packet pickup, shopping, movie, etc.
Race Day:Continental breakfast at the hotel: cream of wheat, oj, bananas. Drove to site. The Mrs. found a cochroach in our room prior to breakfast and didn't have much of an appetite. (Better than finding half a cochroach in your breakfast I say.)
At check-out the Front Desk personnel tried to tell us we didn't pay
I think I'll be crossing Sleep Inn (the host hotel) off my list.
Jogging and light stretching.
