Swim
Comments: Great swim for me. Water temp was great, unbelievable visibility, easy sighting. Love the swim at Nautica Malibu What would you do differently?: Nothing. Become a faster swimmer. Transition 1
Comments: Unacceptably long T1 for an OLY. T1 isn't my forte - I tend to screw around too much making sure I'm not forgetting anything for the bike. I knew I was taking too long on this one. What would you do differently?: Faster. Bike
Comments: Good ride. Thought the breeze was going to be an issue on the inbound (because it felt like we were getting a decent tailwind Northbound), but it turned out to be a non-issue. I was in an earlier wave, so there was no crowding to deal with, and I saw little or no drafting on the course. What would you do differently?: Could have burned a little more on the bike, but I wanted to have a good run, so I intentionally held off a little. Still pleased with the bike on this one. Transition 2
Comments: Good OLY T2 for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Great OLY run for me. I held the pace I was shooting for an felt strong/comfortable for the entire run. What would you do differently?: Probably could have gone slightly faster, but still no regrets. Post race
Event comments: I always end up doing this race at the last minute because my employer is a sponsor and comps the registration, but honestly, after doing this one two times, I have nothing bad to say about it. Nautica Malibu is a great race, albeit slightly spendy $$$ if you're paying the registration out of pocket. Definitely one of, if not the nicest swims of any tri that I've ever done.
