Run
Comments: felt like a good run, like last year think that my main barrier to go faster is mental more than physical limitations What would you do differently?: tell myself to run fater! Transition 1
Comments: Good transition got onto bike from standstill instead of a running start but think this was mandated by the race not my own limits very good getting into shoes Bike
Comments: felt better than last year - less braking on the descents but still some tried to slingshot on the corners but will need to work on that for next year used larger ranges of gears this year What would you do differently?: Do a practice ride to learn the turns & descents before race day Transition 2
Comments: Great into transition, good dismount Run
Comments: once again need to work on 2nd run pace, felt a good hard pace but in retrospect could have and should have pushed harder What would you do differently?: give everything left in the tank Post race
Warm down: muscle milk, tons of water, walking around and some stretches What limited your ability to perform faster: At the end didn't feel like I had spent everything like at Blue Lake, where it was all out on the course. Some of this may still be that I'm not as familiar with the course, but I still think most of the lack of pushing is my own mental barrier to push myself. Event comments: Was surprised that my finish time was :45 slower than last year, when in comparison I was 9 minutes faster at Blue Lake! The first run was faster this time, and the 2nd run and bike were a few seconds slower. Transitions were better. The bike was a surprise as I felt faster this time, and better on the corners and descents. One theory is that because of the gearing on this racing wheel casette vs. last years may have put me a bit slower. This course is more about handling than just holding good aero form. I still got a 2nd place age-group finish, and some good assurance from a fellow triathlete that I still had a good race and this gives me a good goal for next year! Still a great day and overall a great multisport season. Last updated: 2011-07-08 12:00 AM
