Early drive to start to avoid the 25,000 others doing the same!
Event warmup:

Walked 1km to start. Stood around in the cold for 30 min prior to the start in the starting lane. Impossible to run to warmup with so many people around.

Comments:

Found a pilot fish at the start who was excellent at spotting gaps in the crowd and getting through them. Lots of people struggling on the uphill so constant weaving around required, but overall the crowd was not as bad as I had expected. Next year I will have a qualification time for a faster zone start.
What would you do differently?:

Less injuries, more training.

Walked 1.5km to car. Stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injuries prevented training. Only ran once in lead up 3 weeks.
