Comments: Water was perfect. Sandy bottom, very nice. Not much traffic. Started in the 40 and over group. Great line to the first buoy and good turn. No complaints. A little bumping nothing too bad. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Need to get faster. Long run into T1. My bike was at the entrance so I had to walk it the entire length out and again the entire length in. Wasn't too bad but I like it better when they have you go out one way and in the other way so it is fair. I need to get faster. I gave up a full minute on the fastest guy in my age group. What would you do differently?: Get faster Bike
Comments: Nice out and back course along the gulf although you couldn't see it most of the way. A few bumpy areas that I needed to get out of aero. Kin of crowded so it was tough not to draft. If I was going the same pace as someone I would make sure I wasn't right behind them but off to the side. Got passed by a few but not many. Heck, their wheels cost more than my entire bike set up :) What would you do differently?: Nothing, was very pleased. Transition 2
Comments: OK, nothing special. What would you do differently?: take feet out of shoes while on the bike. Run
Comments: Pretty much full sun the whole way. Kind of a loop with an out and back. My teammate that I rode up with always passes me on the run. He is about 3 minutes faster in the run. So off I go not really knowing if he was in front of me or behind. About a half mile in there is a turnaround so as I was coming back I saw him, probably about 3 minutes behind. that is what kept me going. Over the last mile I kept looking over my shoulder expecting him to be right there. It never materialized as he had a bad run. But, it kept me going! What would you do differently?: Not much, it was hot. Need to get better on the run. Post race
Warm down: I sat down in the shade with a bottle of water. Eventually I got up to meet some of my team members, but I needed to sit for a bit. Grabbed some chocolate milk and a smoothie. Ended up rinsing off in the shower, changing clothes then watching the awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Run fitness Event comments: Good race but it is a small race. Got up at 3 am and met my training partner at 4:45 for the drive up. Got there right around 6 am and check in was easy. Took less than 5 minutes. Piddled around a bit then set up transition. The 2 people next to me had these large beach towels set up. Based on their bikes, these aren't nubies either.
Nice swim for about 10 minutes then sat on the beach until the start. Water was perfect
