Comments: A nice run and well paced (for me) I set a goal of reaching the drinks station (7.5kms) within 50 minutes and to finish under 1hr 30mins. Took a drink every ten minutes, half a cliff bar at 30mins and a gel at 60mins. What would you do differently?: Got overheated very quickly, it's been quite cold here recently so I had a long sleeve merino wool top on and quickly warmed up, should have worn a short-sleeve summer running top. Warm down: Some stretching, checking the spot-prize list (I have never ever won a spot prize and consistently those I go to the events with always win every time) and a couple of sausages from the BBQ. What limited your ability to perform faster: Experience and training, I was please with the time but started to feel it towards the end of the race and overheating didn't help. Event comments: Drinks Station at 7.5kms was empty by the time the mid-course atheletes got there behind the long course which started an hour earlier. I didn't mind too much as I had a cambelbak but wanted a glass of water to pour over my head to cool down. The mid-course is the 3rd event to come back in to the race village so most of the drinks and food was already taken by the short and long course racers. Last updated: 2006-04-19 12:00 AM

Arrived a little late so ran from the carpark to the event village and stretched as part of the warm-up.
