Pre-race routine:

Not much really as turned up later than expected as the venue was further away than expected.
Event warmup:

Stretched at car, walked to event registration and stretched again before the start.
Run
  • 1h 46m 32s
  • 13.6 kms
  • 07m 50s  min/km
Comments:

Had a great run, started off with a good pace and managed to run most of the hills rather than starting and stopping, did walk some uphills in the really steep parts and on some of the downhills towards the middle which was really muddy and slipperly following the rain and the long course runners.

Felt pretty strong around the lake, and the stream bed/sand dunes really suited my style and managed to keep a good pace throughout.
What would you do differently?:

Practise more off-road in wetter conditions, but great practice runs for Xterra next April.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a couple of sausages and a coke before heading for a massage and coffee on the way home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing really, have seen significate increase in endurance and wasn't as hot or tired as previous races.

Event comments:

This was probably the best of the off-road run series so far, the next one will be the last as the 6th in the series conflicts with the first Triathlon of the season in Auckland.
