Swim
Comments: I went out poorly. I had trouble sighting and I wanted to quit within 250 yards. I kept drifting off to the right on the way out and I had trouble keeping a straight line. After I rounded the bouy I felt a lot more comfortable and I cruised into the swim exit. I felt really strong and comfortable. What would you do differently?: Start better and warm up. Be a little prepared for the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Felt quick. Tough with traffic getting out of the park, but once I was on the roads I got up to speed. What would you do differently?: Nothing that I can think of. Bike
Comments: Started out and felt good. Next thing I know I see the mile 3 sign, and I start to think I'm going out to hard. I hit the steep climb and I start trying to spin up. I feel super hot and I get up out of the saddle. After a few pushes, I jump off the bike and get to the right. I throw up, and walk the bike up the hill. At the top I start to run with the bike, jump on and head downhill. I settled back into a groove and fly down a steep downhill (faster than a P3C with a disk that blows by me on the next uphill). I feel good coming into town and finish up well. What would you do differently?: Not throw up. Don't know what I could do differently. My gatorade was really warm and disgusting at the start, so maybe freeze it? That might help keeping cool. Transition 2
Comments: Got cut off by a woman going to her rack, fine with me but don't let me then beat you out of the transition area, which I did. I dumped water on head to cool off and then again at the first water table. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Good run. Felt strong and built up my pace after climbing up the hill. Finished well and dumped water on myself at every water table. It was tough in the sun. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Ran to the best of my abilities. Post race
Warm down: Waited at the finish line for Heather, she looked awesome coming across. Walked around and headed home. Had a wonderful brunch that my father made where my parents, brother and sisiter-in-law, Heather's family and my Aunt and Grandma came too. It was nice and tasty. I love bacon. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Maybe trying to work on my bike speed and my swimming ability. Happy about my run though. Event comments: Good, fun race on a hilly course. I was able to take 13 minutes off my time, but I think the swim was shorter than last year. I finished in the top third and I think I could have kept my efforts for longer distances. Last updated: 2006-04-19 12:00 AM

Got up at 5 to the rain outside. Decided to not force Heather and my Dad stand for 2 hours in the rain, so I wasn't going to see the bike mechanic about getting my cleats into my brother's cycling shoes. I changed my pedals and ate some oatmeal and had a coffee. Left alittle after six to the race site.
Got to the race site and got body marked. Set up my transition area, and Heather's transition area. Waited in line for the bathroom. Walked with Heather to go through the transitions exits and entrances. Got kicked out of the transition area as the race started. Meet up with my cousins who were cheering on my cousin Diane.
Oh yeah, I got zero physical or mental warm-ups in. Just felt rushed before hand.
