Run
Comments: Given my preparedness for this race, i exceeded my expectation greatly.. My longest run was a 6.2 miles and that was a race i did two weeks prior. My longest training run was 5.5 miles. This race was more mental than anything. I was physically spent after mile 8. Around Mile 5, i encountered some severe stomach cramps.. so i had to back off current pace.. mile 6, i had to pee like a race horse.. Mile 8 came.. WOW it became the death march.. IT bands felt like rubber bands tensed to the point of popping.. so i decided to walk 40sec at each mile marker to help ease the aches.. around mile 11, walks became more frequent.. the pain increased 10 fold.. But I grunted it out, i was determined to finished this.. Mile 12. oh man, stomach cramps aching IT bands.. the death march was almost over.. i could see the finihs line.. quotes from the replacements came to mind.. "pain is temporary, chicks dig scares, and Glory is forever" i forgot about aches and finished it with all i had. What would you do differently?: RUN more.. Post race
Warm down: i walked around.. took in some water and a banana.. stomach was to upset to intake anything else.. the pizza looked so tasty, i got nauseated looking at it.. What limited your ability to perform faster: I've been in a Funk all year.. spark was minimal with training and competing.. something we all go through i guess.. I ran this race thinking i would have been out of the funk.. but i was somewhat. i missed all my key runs.. long runs that is.. Event comments: this was a great event.. well supported. I will consider doing it again next year.. I feel like i have too. so i can erase this experience with a fully charged effort on my part.. Last updated: 2011-07-17 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0400... made some oatmeal put some pecans in it.. it was pretty good.. sat on the floor did some deep breathing exercises. cleared my mind and focused on the death march..
Walked to start line.. did a short warm up run (.5 mile..) some stretching. tried keeping loose and warm.. lil cold out..
