Swim
Comments: Swim went well. Took it nice and slow and wasn't winded at all when I came out of the swim. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Smooth transition. No problems at all. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: The bike went well except for that my Garmin didn't work. I looked at it right before I went into the swim (I left it on my aero bars) and it was all set. When I started to the bike and went to press start, it was in some weird history mode. I pressed mode and fiddled with it for a couple of seconds but eventually just gave up and started pushing hard. Overall I probalby could have pushed it to 21 MPH. What would you do differently?: I don't know how I could have avoided the Garmin situation...I still don't know how it got into that mode. Transition 2
Comments: I didn't try anything fancy this round. I decided to keep the shoes on and just stop, unclip, and step off the bike. I had a great spot in transition and got the shoes on and out quick. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I have had MAJOR IT Band issues the last month, so I was really worried about it taking away from the run. It did to a certain extent at the beginning, but I pushed it out of my head and had a good run. I could have taken it to sub-7:00 miles without the IT Band issues. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with a few people I know and waited on awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: The IT Band restricted me just a bit, but the main help would have been a working Garmin. Event comments: They had a timing issue and screwed the top 5-6 finishers out of recognition...and we waited an hour for them to figure out they didn't have their correct times. They fixed the error and got the times posted later in the evening, but it was pretty annoying post-race. Last updated: 2011-07-18 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5:00 and had a small cup of coffee. Ate a bowl of cereal, stretched out the IT Band and was out the door.
I swam a couple hundred meters before the race this time to get some of the jitters out. It helped a lot. I was much more comfortable at controlling my pace
