Swim
Comments: I ended up swimming way to close to the shore to avoid other people but I think in doing so I also didnt get nearly the current help that I could have if I would have swam further out. Ended up getting punched in the face by someones stroke about 50 yards into the start. Shocked me a little but was able to keep swimming. What would you do differently?: Swim further into the current and stand up sooner at the end. Transition 1
Comments: transition felt fine not my quickest one ever but felt fairly smooth What would you do differently?: focus on speed a little more Bike
Comments: Had a good bike leg. Felt a little nauseated at about mile 4 or so but it passed fairly quickly. Because my wave started almost last there was a lot of people that I had to pass on the course. Was able to make most passes easily and without having to slow. What would you do differently?: push the pace a little bit harder. I always feel like this after I get off the bike that I could have pushed a little more. I start to doubt myself and my ability to have a good run afterward and I need to stop that. Transition 2
Comments: Almost tipped bike over getting off of bike but didnt and had a fairly fast transition What would you do differently?: work on getting feet out of shoes before the dismount line. Run
Comments: overall was very happy with my run I wanted a sub 7 pace and I met that. That being said I need to work on my mental toughness my legs were a little heavy at first but that passed fairly quickly. I just need to trust myself that I can hold a faster pace and then do it. What would you do differently?: Push my pace a little more. I think I could have gone 6:30 pace Post race
Warm down: Walked around picked up my medal and then tried to stay dry while waiting for the awards ceremony. The rain really picked up after the race finished. What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight was the biggest factor. I am still sitting at about 200 pounds. I need to watch my diet better so that I can lose these final 20 pounds or so to really get in better race weight. The rain and wet roads definitely didnt help anything but everyone had to race in the same conditions so it didnt really matter. Event comments: Despite the conditions they put on a good race. I thought the transition setup was a little bad because everyone did not have to cover the same distance because of where they had the entrance and exits at. Last updated: 2011-07-18 12:00 AM

Got off work at 7:00 in the morning. I am a firefighter and I had gotten up a couple of times during the night for calls so I was a little sleepy still. Ate an Odwalla bar and a Banana and drove to the site to get my transition set up. Got set up and then helped a friend get her area set up for her first tri.
Walked the half mile to the swim start.
