Swim
Comments: I really need to put in some swims other than just at the races. What would you do differently?: Actually include swimming in my training plan Transition 1
Comments: T1 Rank - 113/173 Bike
Comments: My legs were a little shot. A warmup would have definitely helped. Once i got going i felt pretty good. Hill right out of transition. Did really well on the fast parts of the course once i got out on the course without a lot of traffic. Made a few nice passes setting up on the outside corner then passing on the inside. Passed two riders on one corner, the first of which setup too far outside and tried to pass the guy in front of him on the outside. I passed them both on the inside. I was really very happy with my cornering and shifting into low gears BEFORE i got on hills to blas up them. Powered up the one big hill in a granny gear catching the rider in front of me by the top (they were halfway up when i started). What would you do differently?: Leave early enough to warm-up. Really didn't have much in my legs for the first mile. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Transitions are something i need to start practicing. Also, need to do something about the equipment (tie shoes for bike & run). New cycling shoes with velcro and quick-ties for running shoes would help. Run
Comments: Right calf cramped immediately. Had to walk for about 2 minutes to the top of the hill out of T2. After that started jogging and got up to speed. Started to feel good very quickly. Good run. Good form. Decent effort. What would you do differently?: Steep down hill - totally blew it, tried to go too fast. Didn't fall, but used a lot of energy and it took a bit of time to catch my breath and get back in a good rhythm again. Post race
Warm down: A little streching. Took a shower. After i got out and started getting changed i realized that i had taken my shorts off at my car (tri short underneath) and left them there. So i put my shirt and underwear (boxer briefs) on then wrapped my towel around my waist and preceded to ride back to my car. Got one "Nice Skirt" comment from a chick in a car. This was okay until the towel started to come off, then i was basically riding back to my car in my shirt and underwear with a towel hanging off. At least the towel didn't get caught in my chain and wipe me out. That would have been pretty bad (for me) good laugh for anyone else. What limited your ability to perform faster: no swim training, poor transition times, 2 days of long workouts and a tennis match prior to race, no warmup. (i think that's enough excuses). Event comments: This was my first WT race this year. The bike course was change a little bit. A little wider in some spots and it seems less "rooty" for some reason. I really like what they've done with the bike course. Last updated: 2011-07-20 12:00 AM

Sit in traffic on Rt. 4 for 25 minutes !!! (Arrrrggggghhhh !!!)
none to speak of really. Road my bike to the transition area, jogged down to the lake, rinsed my goggles (that was my swim warm-up)
