Swim
Comments: There were a few amazing swimmers in the wave that I happened to start right behind. As there wasn't an elite wave, I assumed these to be the people who would normally be in that wave. I for the first time decided drafting was a good idea. One of the guys I drafted off of peatered out around 2/3 of the way which was the point I dug in and sprinted for shore. 30 seconds faster than last year....can't complain. What would you do differently?: Need more OWS practice to settle into the groove earlier in the swim. I almost seem to press too hard early on. Transition 1
Comments: hey...better than last year, but still a minute too slow. Always room to improve, but again, making strides here. My assumption, improvement will come with practice and more races. What would you do differently?: Not sure yet... Bike
Comments: Wow...what a difference a road bike makes. 15.5 mph last year....20.5 this year. It was fun, and I think I can push hard next year. What would you do differently?: maintain aero a bit better and be more aggressive on passing....I tended to sit back and wait too long. Transition 2
Comments: A nice safe T2...got off the bike just fine and in/out of T2 in what I think to be a decent time. I'm more concerned with T1 at this point. Run
Comments: No comment...I stunk, couldn't get my HR under control until about mile 2. I choked...and will need to work big time on my running. What would you do differently?: suck it up and do it! Post race
Warm down: water, cool towel and root on my wife who was in hot pursuit! What limited your ability to perform faster: ME Event comments: Overall, a big time improvement from last year....and an absolute amazing day with family around and my wife participating for the first time. We're hooked at our lifestyle change. Last updated: 2011-07-20 12:00 AM

Age Group Rank = 34/66
Family oriented - Got up around 5, freshed up, Protein Bar and 32 oz. of H2O. Got the rest of the family up and prepared a bagel with PB to nibble on down at the park.
My wife (first Tri for her!) and I went for a nice swim before the waters got crowded, maybe 1/4 mile worth. Nice to get in and relax in the water a bit. Otherwise, maintain hydration with some Accelerade and 1/2 banana. (can never eat the whole thing with kids around..gotta love 'em)
