Swim
Comments: I felt strong on the swim, especially for my first none-wetsuit competion. What would you do differently?: Lost my watch/heart rate monitor about 30 seconds into the race. I spent some time trying to catch it after if got ripped off. I need to continue to work on my sighting. I also need to work on my stroke, I continue to pull to the left when I swim. Transition 1
Comments: Standard transition, I walked from the beach to the transition area. Bike
Comments: Bike route was fairly flat with a light headwind on the way out and a light tailwind on the way back. There are some rollers at the beginning and end. What would you do differently?: I need to get out on the road more. I also adjusted my seat position this week and I could feel it in my hamstrings. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I got off the bike feeling ok, but less than a mile in my lungs were aching. It felt like some of my asthma attacks. I don't know if it was asthma or an allergen. I used a run/walk method, which really frustrated me. I had been feeling so good running lately. (My lungs were still aching the next day.) Post race
Warm down: Just walked out the leg cramps before packing up my transition gear. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of road time on the bike, breathing issues on the run. Event comments: This was a first year event. Racemaker Productions did a good job of organizing the race. The sprint and oly swims were staggered to provide plenty of safety/water patrol. The bike and run courses were well marked. There were 2 water stations operating on the run course. A variety of pizzas were available post race. The race shirts are nice. I will definitely do another of their races and I hope to be back for this one next year. Last updated: 2011-07-21 12:00 AM
