Pre-race routine:

I arrived right when the transition area opened because this was my first tri, and I wasnt sure what it was going to be like, but setup and getting marked was really simple so I sat around until my start time, 2 hours later....Had a naked juice for breakfast like normal.thats it.
Event warmup:

No warmup the swim was in the pool and there was no area to swim prior....and it was coooold outside at the start.
Swim
  • 11m 58s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 23s / 100 meters
Comments:

Super happy with my swim, starting training I couldnt swim 25m without struggling. I will continue to practice to bring my times under 2min/100, that is my 2012 goal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing....I couldnt be more pleased
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

The Transition time is in my bike time I believe.....transition was a bit slow I had not practiced it enough and was not trying to hurry..I had to add some extra layers to deal with the cool start but overall I was pleased with the transition, no real problems.
What would you do differently?:

Practice.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 14s
  • 21 miles
  • 16.11 mile/hr
Comments:

I need to practice taking in fluids on the bike, it throws my balance off and I feel uncomfortable and because of that I do not drink enough. I feel that impacted my power during the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Practice my balance and drinking on the bike. Get quicker, I would like to be around 20mph during my next race.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This time is also in the bike time I believe. Went pretty smoothly, got my shoes on and I was off to the run.
Run
  • 43m 25s
  • 5 miles
  • 08m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

I think I could have hydrated better on the bike and been ok, but I was struggling the last 2 miles of the run, Legs felt strong but I felt like I was weakening. Overall really pleased, I wanted to be under 9min/mile
What would you do differently?:

More running, and work on my hydration
Post race
Warm down:

A banana and a stroll around the parking lot was all I did, then home to relax.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Practice, and hydration.

Event comments:

I enjoyed it immensely being my first tri, I will have a better gauge after I have some more races under my belt.
