Run
Comments: Was trying to set a PR today so I went out harder than normal. Hit the wall at about mile two. Knew I could still shatter my PR if I did the last 1.1 miles in under ten minutes so I backed off a bit. After the climbing the foot bridge ramp, got a second wind and pushed it to the end. Knocked three minutes off of my personal best!!! What would you do differently?: Should have gone with a short sleeve shirt, was really starting to get hot at the end of the race. Post race
Warm down: Didn't feel too good right as I finished. Just walked around a bit to settle things back down. After about ten minutes, grabbed some water and a bannana. That went down fine, so I grabbed a bagel and cup of coffee and cheered on the rest of the competitors. What limited your ability to perform faster: I've never done a 5k that fast so nothing really limited me. I think I can go faster yet, just need some more endurance to be able to maintain that 7:15 pace for the whole 5k. Event comments: A good race, lots of friendly volunteers. There were some problems getting official times posted, but 'stuff' happens. Would definately do it again. Last updated: 2006-04-20 12:00 AM

Got up around 5:30 had some coffee and some toast with almond butter. Drank a bottle of water on the way to the race. Got registered and then walked around the Zoo for a awhile. Very cool to see the animals that early in the morning, they are far more active than they are in the afternoons (especially the wolves and the African wild dogs).
Didn't actually do much of a warmup. Just a few minutes of light jogging, and some stretching.
