Overall Rank = 738/2500
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 99/380
Pre-race routine:

Nothing much. Wake up and just wander up to transition. Not sleeping well all week but didnt feel bad. Needed to eat something earlier
Event warmup:

Nothing, just swam a little
Swim
  • 1h 23m
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went fine. I could shave a little off but it definitely wasnt the problem today.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on technique and a little faster turnover.
Transition 1
  • 08m
Comments:

Ironman crowded transition...lol.
Nothing real fast but i still should have been 2 minutes quicker i guess.
What would you do differently?:

Hustle faster to and from bag area. Not look around for seat etc.
Bike
  • 6h 05m 43s
  • 112 miles
  • 18.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Really just didnt have the legs today. Just couldnt keep any speed.
What would you do differently?:

Sleep better and eat better prior to event?
Transition 2
  • 05m 43s
Comments:

Ironman transition. Really limping in to get changed.
Changed shorts to run shorts, changed socks... etc, shouldnt have.
What would you do differently?:

Go with Tri shorts all day. Same socks maybe? (But feet felt good on run...)
Run
  • 4h 56m 29s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I had continuing pain in right hip and then right knee. Trotting/walking was ok but almost fell when i tried to stretch into a nice run with a sharp "collapsing" of my hip. I kept decent pace for 5-6 miles. After that I mentally gave up knowing my 12 hour mark wasnt going to happen.
I felt decent walking 1 minute and "running" for 3 minutes. I didnt feel like burying myself to be 50th instead of 99th.
What would you do differently?:

Better rest and pre-race nutrition for bike to be running by 7 hours.
Get to orthopidic dudes to check my right hip and knee to see whats up.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Leg/hip injury. Rest

Event comments:

Gotta love IMLP!
Had a great time. I'll get my 11:30:00 next year for sure!
