Pre-race routine:

Up way too early and drove to Plano. It was a cold morning, paced around. There was a kid's tri first and I mis-judged when to arrive, ended up much earlier than needed, but I got my prime spot on the end of my rack!
Event warmup:

I did 200 meters in the pool
Swim
  • 07m 42s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

I like pool tri's but someone has got to get organized on the seeding and starting order
What would you do differently?:

I don't know. I had been doing 300 yards in under 6:00, I felt like I should hit 300 meters in a 50 meter pool in 6ish. I felt strong. I did notice my tri top adds more drag than I realized. During warm up I tucked it into my shorts and that helped some. I guess a 1 piece is in order
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

It was a very long run to my bike and a semi long run to the mount line, everyone's T-1 will be slow. I have skipped leaving my shoes clipped in for now, I am just as fast putting them on and running on them. Next season I will get tri shoes
What would you do differently?:

It was ok, I guess swim more so my heart isnt racing when I get on the bike. Always takes me a few miles to settle down
Bike
  • 50m 46s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.73 mile/hr
Comments:

I noticed the night before my rear wheel is getting more out of true and hits the brake pad some. The front is a little out also. The ride was as good as I could hope given my lackluster bike training.
What would you do differently?:

New wheels, new bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

T-2 was good-just a long TA to run and navigate
Run
  • 26m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Fair run. I wanted 25 or less. It didn't take too long to get my legs under me and I ran at what seemed a hard brisk pace, did'nt know I was a full minute slower than my normal "hard brisk pace"
What would you do differently?:

Bike fitness probably. I run plenty of miles and have gotten faster, uder 24min in a stand alone 5k.
Post race
Warm down:

Live music, venders tents, free chicken sandwhich and home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim: Im right there..just need to push through that barrier, traffic. I need to seed higher
Bike-Equipment, training
Run: under the circumstances I did ok

Event comments:

Well run race, great venue! Truth is I finished MOP where normaly I am BOP or near the bottom so, really I did pretty good. I swam the entire swim-no doggy paddle, back stroke, I rode semi hard and steady, I ran the entire run-no walking and I got faster toward then end. I passed more people than passed me through the entire race

Course: Ok I passed 5 or more other swimmers who had seeded themselves incorrectly or something, ended up in traffic at the walls and held up at the ladder to get out by a scrum of swimmers also trying to get out and one chubby gentleman who couldn't seem to get a grip on the rail, I had been trying to get around him for 50 meters, tapping his foot, he was all over the place-I passed on the way to the TA
