Comments:

Water was great. It was wetsuit-legal and some said it was cold, but didn't feel cold at all.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, was most worried about swim, but turned out to be fine and relaxed. Took it easy, kept near back of pack and stayed out of the fray.

Most room for personal improvement. Kept it slow and saved for the hills since I haven't spent much time on the bike. Clearly this is where I can pick up the most time in future races.

Pretty good run, kept very short steps and just comfortable pace to work up the hills. Ended up being faster than I felt like it was.

Event comments:

My first race, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was a great time, beautiful ride and a good crowd. The town of Luray helps out a lot and the local volunteers are out in full force. A lot of fun.
