Run
Comments: I was completely confused at the first mile marker-- It was really a KM marker. It took me 5 markers to realize that there were actually going to be 10 of these suckers, and I had better slow the hell down and focus. At 8k, I had to stop and throw up. The last 2k were hellacious. I took no walk breaks until then. Interesting that my Oly 10K was only 5 minutes slower and I took walk breaks the whole time! The heat and my poor nutrition nearly killed me. What would you do differently?: Pay better attention Not horse around so much cheering and heckling fans, I ran out of steam BIG TIME. Not eat coffee cake off picnic table of fans. Hydrate better! (I cannot believe i actually went for a 10K run on coffee only!) Post race
Warm down: stagger around in heat. Look for pals. Eat food. Try not to let irate food-line-cutter guy kill Kathryn. Sit around feeling lousy, complaining, suggesting we stretch, not doing anything about it. What limited your ability to perform faster: poor nutrition choices, not paying attention to the race and goofing off a lot, the heat. I have got to start taking this a little more seriously. Event comments: Not nearly enough water on the course. They ended up calling the marathon off at 5:15, it was just too hot. I watched one 1/2 marathoner collapse about 50 yds from finish line. It was scary. They also had to change the 5k and 10k course at the last minute due to construction, and soe people got off course and were pissed (I would be too) but I had no trouble following the new route.
