Overall Rank = 87/306
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 9/26
Pre-race routine:

Drank an Ensure and ate a banana.
Event warmup:

Waited in ridiculously long line for my timing chip. Walked around.
Swim
  • 29m 12s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very poorly organized swim course. Not well marked by bouys in the water. None of the participants seemed to know where we were supposed to swim. Due to fact that many people were still picking up packets and timing chips very close to start of swim, people were scrambling to get in the water with their wave. Wet suits were not allowed, and I was kind of nervous since I have never done a race without one. Somehow I got a swim PR for this distance despite the fact that i swam off course and never really knew where to go.
Transition 1

Very slow
What would you do differently?:

Go faster
Bike
  • 1h 16m 20s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.53 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty easy bike course. Downhills were nice and long and the uphills were pretty easy. The bike course was short though.
Transition 2

Run
  • 47m 54s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Nice running trail. Only complaint about the run is the lack of volunteers giving out water. They need more.
Post race
Warm down:

Gatorade and Water. Walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I had a 23 minute PR for this distance, so I'm pretty happy with performance.

Event comments:

Poorly organized overall. In the future they should hand out the timing chips with the packets the day before to minimize long lines the morning of. The volunteers were great, but there were too few. Swim course was poorly explained and poorly marked. Crowds were good at places where there was room for crowds, but most of the course is not conducive to crowds.
