Swim
Comments: Good swim, pushed pretty good throughout. Got into a good rhythm for most of the swim. Breath every 2 strokes and was able to sight much better off of this pattern. Went pretty quickly, so not sure how much longer I could of held pace, but a great swim for me overall. Wish it was a little faster, but always slower with an OWS. What would you do differently?: work on rhythm and settle down for longer races coming up. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good transition. Run to transition, to bike, goggles down, socks on, shoes on, skull cap on, helmet on, glasses on, go. What would you do differently?: took a second to settle down and get socks on. Probably could have done it a bit faster. Bike
Comments: Good bike. HR was up from the swim, started out pretty fast and got settled in quickly. HR stayed up for first 5-7 miles until I backed off a bit. Passed a lot of folks along the way (only got passed once), along with many groups. Got behind some cars at one point, they finally passed our group, then I passed them back again. It was a bit tough weaving in and out of the bikes and cars along the course, but overall a pretty good bike leg. Pushed hard throughout, at about 90% CP and held HR at threshold. Good for a sprint bike. What would you do differently?: maybe start with a higher number. Lots of traffic on the bike and passed all of them. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good transition, undid shoes before I got off bike, got off bike and tried to run in the bike shoes. Didn't go over so well, took me a second to regroup and get to the transition spot. Otherwise, good transition, shoes off, helmet, etc. off, running shoes on good, grabbed my hat, watch and belt and off. What would you do differently?: Don't try to undo shoes on the bike, unless I plan to take my feet out of them before getting off the bike. Run
Comments: Decent run, probably could have done it a bit faster. HR was up from the start, and kept a 183-185HR for the first 1 1/2 miles. Took powerade at the first water stop (not a good idea, thought I was going to puke). After 1 1/2 miles, slowed the pace a bit to the next water stop (walked the water stop), then picked it back up again. Probably could have pushed through, but it was tough. Last 1/2 mile paced pretty good, but finished with too much in the tank. I probably could have done the run about a minute faster, but not a bad run for me. 9:06's off the bike is pretty good for me. Again though, the run ranking is pretty bad compared to my age group, etc. Better, but I still have work to do. What would you do differently?: Need to learn to push myself more. I could of held pace for the entire run, but backed off too much. Finished strong, but could of finished faster. Post race
Warm down: walked around and waited on a few more folks to finish. water and a cold towel. Then went to eat a bit at the post race and got in the pool for a few minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: myself (mentally). Overall, pretty good effort. Event comments: Very good race, will plan to race it again next year. Good bike course and nice run. Fast, which was nice. Last updated: 2011-08-03 12:00 AM

Got up at 5am, got dressed. Had some gaterade to hydrate, 2 mini clif bars and a cup of coffee. Got packed up and ready to go to the race site. Left for race site and arrived about 6am.
Got bike and everything to transition.... DOH!!! Left aero bottle on back of car from hotel. It was gone....., but
Got transition setup and bike setup and ready to go, took bike out for a 3 mile ride to check gearing, etc.
Asked race director about lost and found, luckily, someone had brought my water bottle from the hotel (THANK YOU!!!!). Refilled the aero bottle and attached to the bike.
walked around, met a few folks, then went down to the water to warm up. Went for a 300 yard swim (rocky start and finish, glad i checked it out).
