Swim
Comments: The buoy floated away before our heat. They brought it back, but for time's sake didn't remeasure. I swam faster than a couple years ago, but the time was about 45 seconds slow. I think the course was long - so did others in my heat. Kept getting seaweed over my shoulders and arms! What would you do differently?: Find someone fast to draft behind. Transition 1
Comments: pretty smooth. no socks. shoes on at bike - passed a guy trying to do it the "right" way. Bike
Comments: Windy first half - but didn't feel the benefit on the return :-( Felt pretty good - no one passed me. Didn't carry water or tools. Wheelbuilder.com disc insert. Slowed a bit at end to prep for run. What would you do differently?: Hug the corners even more. Focus more on full circle peddling. Train harder on bike & add more lower body strength training. Transition 2
Comments: put on socks; went smoothly; What would you do differently?: could practice putting on race belt while running Run
Comments: With only two miles, not a lot of time to recover from the bike - just had to kick it into gear. No side ache. Took one swallow of water at turnaround. Focused on keeping a quick turnover. Passed one or two in my division. Strong kick at end. What would you do differently?: I could have started the kick a LITTLE sooner. But I didn't see anyone to catch (30 seconds ahead) or beat (over 30 seconds back). Post race
Warm down: walked a bit. Talked w/ friends & family. Had some grapes, water & a provided taco. What limited your ability to perform faster: Seaweed. Wind. Legs only 95% (was on my feet in the heat all day yesterday working). Event comments: 2nd time doing the full race - loved it! Fun atmosphere at night in Boise. Lots of spectators. Odd that there would be 3 pros racing. I recommend this race to anyone interested in tri's. I wish they'd time the transitions - can't truly gauge performance in each section without that - or see how you matched up in the swim & bike against others (times are combined w/ T1 & T2).
