Swim
Comments: First triathlon in 3 years, first open water swim in 5 years, no swim training beforehand so this is what I expected. Not drowning - Check. What would you do differently?: Plans to work in some swim workouts. Transition 1
Comments: This was fine. Ran up the sandy hill after the nasty swim and didn't bust my butt getting on the bike. Bike
Comments: The last tri I did 3 years ago I also did no training leading up to it and I went way too hard on the bike. This time I had resolved to keep my cadence above 75 rpm, even if it meant sacrificing a little speed. I knew I would be slow anyway because I haven't been on a bike in 2 years. What would you do differently?: Spend some time on the bike trainer building some speed strength. I have solid leg strength so I should be killing the bike section but haven't trained the efficiency. Transition 2
Comments: This was good, didn't waste any time. Ran the whole way with my bike and racked quickly. Run
Comments: Made great time on this felt strong on miles 1 and 3, pretty draggy in mile 2. But pace was right on and I had enough gas to sprint the last 200 meters. Post race
Warm down: Drank the myoplex they handed me at the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of swim/bike training. Intense heat. Event comments: Awesome race, it was well planned and organized, good parking, very friendly volunteers/police. Worth waking up at 6am to register online for May 1st.
