Pre-race routine:

I woke up about 5:00 and made sure all my gear was with me. I left for the race about 5:30 and had a pb&j on the way. I wasn't feeling very good. My head was stuffed up, and I hadn't slept well. I got transition set up and sat down to wait.
Event warmup:

I walked the length of the canal to get to the swim start. I jumped in and swam a bit to warm up.

  • 39m 35s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

I really need to take some swim lessons.
What would you do differently?:

Like I said, lessons.
Transition 1

I am never in a huge hurry in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 21m 32s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.29 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was just ok. I started feeling worse as the ride went on. I also realized at some point that there was no way I was going to break 3 hours, and I kind of mentally gave up. I hadn't really intended to race this too hard because I have an HIM in 5 weeks, but I was just not mentally on my game.
What would you do differently?:

Keep riding hard the whole way.
Transition 2
  • 02m 19s
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 08m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked a bit during the run. As I said before, I just wasn't mentally on my game.
What would you do differently?:

Keep running.
Post race
Warm down:

I just grabbed my bike and headed to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I wasn't feeling well the whole time, and this just wasn't my day.

Event comments:

Not my finest day, but it is another finish and I will take it.

I felt pretty strong during the swim. I am just so SLOW!
Suit:
Course: This is a shallow, really slimy canal. It is a fun swim because specators can walk along the side. It is a nice wide space, so there isn't much worry about being kicked or swam over. There was one area where the White River dumps into the canal where it got really cold and really smelly.
