Swim
Comments: I was 29 seconds faster than last year so I was happy with that. Very well organized event. The key is to give them your average/normal time for a 300 yard swim. If you are seeded properly then it's a pretty good swim. Last year I was embarassed I gave the wrong time and must have had 6 people pass me (I felt bad that I was slowing down other competitors). This year was much better, I had one person pass me and I passed 4 or 5 people myself. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just need to keep practicing to hopefully get faster. Transition 1
Comments: I was really expecting to have more improvement on my T1 time. Last year I was a speedy 1:54, so I shaved a whole 11 seconds off. I felt like I was moving faster but I do take time to dry off and put on socks so that probably doesn't help. What would you do differently?: Practice my T1 before hand. Bike
Comments: I felt good coming out out of T1, thought I was on pace for my goal time. Didn't go out too hard on the bike, tried to pick up the pace after the first 1.5/2 miles but the legs were just sore. I actually was 7 seconds slower than I was last year! UGH not happy about my bike time. Didn't really have any reason why, no wind or anything like that. Same course as last year. What would you do differently?: Maybe taper more before hand. I might of needed to rest my legs more before? Not sure... Transition 2
Comments: My T2 time last year was :56, and I was happy with that mostly, I improved by 4 seconds so I was pleased. I feel that T2 is the easiest part of the Triathlon, that's just me though. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. Run
Comments: Ran a 24:19 last year, so I showed 1:20 improvement (not bad but I was hoping for more).I was experiencing some cramping toward the end of the run. I was very surprised by this since I didn't have any caffine before hand I thought that was the culprit from previous races. I think I just need to use salt tabs on the bike and run to help prevent the cramps. Overall not a bad run. What would you do differently?: Salt tabs? Post race
Warm down: Walked off , cool down. Gatorade Event comments: Great event, nice and close, lots of parking. They really do put on an excellent event. I plan on racing this every year as long as they put it on. The Glen is beautiful, the bike course is nice flat and fast (plus very safe), the run is anything but boring and the people working the event are friendly and helpful. Woke up at 4:30 had a bannana, Cliff Bar and lots of water. Loaded up my gear and was out the door driving just before 5am. Short 19 minute drive. Picked up my timing chip, got body marked and set up in transition.
They don't skimp on the bike racks. Lots of room to set up your transition area, very nice! If this is your first Triathlon don't expect this kind of room at the others you go to.
Swam about 200 meters in the pool. Then stretched out waiting for the start.
