Swim
Comments: Kind of an unusual swim for me. To start, i thought the water temp should have been wetsuit legal but I trust the RD that it wasn't. A couple of spots on the swim had a terrible foul smell that i really thought that was gross. One spot had a temp drop of about 20 degrees i bet, but I actually enjoyed that thinking it would cool my core down a little. Oveall just ok, i realize i have come to rely on my wetsuit a little too much and need to work a little harder in the pool. What would you do differently?: NOt forget my GU, better gauge my actual start time for better warmup timing. Transition 1
Comments: had a little difficulty getting my shoes on as I tried to get up to speed pedaling barefoot. Bike
Comments: First lap went well. I was in a group of 3 other riders where we all seemed to be going at the same pace. we would all take turns passing each other. Had one really big close call as we were turning north off of Washington street - about 4 of us were on the outside passing when a guy decides at the last minute to "go wide" to take the turn. A chorus of screams and we all managed to divert and miss a big tangle. That actuall shook me up and took me about a mile to settle back in. 2nd loop went ok too, I seemed to end up racing with one other guy and we made a pretty good clip of the second loop. What would you do differently?: Wait longer to take my feet out of my shoes approaching dismount. Transition 2
Comments: I knocked over my racking bar and had to put it back up - bummer What would you do differently?: faster with my socks Run
Comments: I can only say - "crap". I am so dissapointed in my running progress. Humidity was definately a factor for me, but i just need to run faster. My running consistently keeps me from higher finishes and i just have to focus my training on this. What would you do differently?: train with speed workouts more instead of too many LSP runs. Post race
Warm down: Drank a cold chocolate milk which ended up being a HUGE mistake. I began feeling light headed at the 5.5 mi mark and I think i downed the milk too fast. Didn't get sick, but i dad to get to shade pretty quick and felt bad the rest of the afternoon. was looking for ice somewhere and couldn't find any. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need better training for my running and the mental toughness that it will require. Possibly the humiity to a certain degree on the run. Event comments: Just a couple of things for the RD: 1. WIth such hot weather forecasted - have ice at the run stations (the last aid station had some on my first loop but was out on the second. 2. I think this is a great event that will continue to grow - they will need to improve the swim start procedure. 3.Keep it up INDY - Awesome Event! Last updated: 2011-08-08 12:00 AM

Didn't sleep very well at all. Got up at 5:15 and headed downtown. Parked at Indy Zoo and ate whole grain bagel with PB. Started drinkin full Gatorade. Also had my pre-race Diet Mt Dew on the way downtown. Racked bike - the rails were very low and had hard time getting it the way i wanted. need to learn how to rack with handlebars.
slight jog from transition to swim start. Really got a tast of humitidy just to the swim start. got in at what i thought was decent time to warm up only to then wait in start line for over 20 minutes. oh well. Forgot my GU to take 15 min prior to start.
