Pre-race routine:

Got to transition early to beat the crowds. Body marking went well, and really liked the set up of the bike racks. Great spacing, and having a designated spot was very beneficial.
Event warmup:

Light run between transition and vehicle and back to transition. Then general stretching. Didn't get in for a warm up swim, which was a mistake.
Swim
  • 12m 31s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Disappointed with swim. General sighting and breathing issues, which I expected. Then got pinned in against someone doing breast stroke the last 150m. Couldn't get around him due to the frog kick. Probably lost 30 seconds or so there.
What would you do differently?:

More OWS practice, sight better, and stay with strategy of remaining on edge of group so that I don't get pinned in.
Transition 1
  • 02m 7s
Bike
  • 36m 41s
  • 14 miles
  • 22.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Good fast course. Can't really complain about the bike. Didn't realize that I was in the wrong gear until 6-7 miles into course. General clutter to be expected with slower cyclists, etc. I think the right side of course being next to traffic resulted in folks creating a buffer so that they weren't too close to traffic. This made passing on the left a little dicey, especially when we ended up three wide.
What would you do differently?:

Gear correctly. Once I got in the right gear, I was able to maintain 23-25 pace consistently.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Overall good transition -- no complaints here.
Run
  • 30m 34s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Decided to go without my Garmin for the run. In hindsight, probably a mistake. The heat started to get to me within the first 1.5 miles. But, I wasn't able to accurately gauge my pace, even though I knew it was slow.
What would you do differently?:

Better gauge my pace
Post race
Warm down:

The ice baths were excellent. Very well-received. Hit the food tent and walked around to see results.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat

Event comments:

Overall, a well organized race. First time for this one, and I'll definitely do it again.
