Pre-race routine:

Weekend of triathloning. Both girls raced in their first triathlon at the kids race and had a great time.

Stayed around afterwards for a couple of hours to help setup remaing bike racks.

Normal routine. Both my wife and I raced. Brought the girls this time and they did well with getting up and waiting for us to setup transition.

Signed up for to race age group for this race before IMTX thinking I would be under 200 lbs (never made it :-) ) but with the lack of working out I was 210 this morning, but didn't change to clydesdale due to my age group being the first wave after the elites. With it being August I couldn't pass up the early start

Ran about 1.5 miles with some pickups. Swam a couple hundered yards

After swimming hard a Shadow Creek two weeks ago and being out of breath on the bike and knowing I didn't stand a chance of competing with the fast guys, I decided to back off the swim some and see if it helped the bike.

I need lessons or something! 55th out of the water makes it difficult to do well

Felt good getting up to speed and was surprised has I compared my power to speed. Could tell I was moving well and making up time on people. A couple of times I came up on some guys who were riding just a tad slower than me and stayed back the appropriate bike lengths instead of killing myself to get pass them. Eventually passed at good times. Rode the last 5 miles exchanging places with a pokadot guy. Made my way up to 16th in AG by the end of the bike

Good bike overall.
What would you do differently?:

I probably had a little bit more in my legs but was trying to be careful with the hot run coming up

I missed my row by one and went to hang my bike before I noticed it and had to go to correct rack.

I struggled to find a good rythm. Felt like I was running a good pace and then would look down at my garmin and realize I was running to slow. Each mile got better though and I negative split each mile and the last .65 miles.
What would you do differently?:

I have only been running about once or twice a week since IMTX. About time to get serious again

Warm down:

Jumped into the ice tubs and they were great! Hung out with the kids for a little and then went to cheer Kelly on has she left T2 and finished.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor swim and run. Still to big to run with the fast guys in my age group.
