Swim
Comments: Terrible breathing at the start really slowed me dow. It took a while to get a rhythm What would you do differently?: Perhaps start at the back of the pack. Slow my breathing down. Maybe breathe every 4 strokes at the beginning while adrenaline was running high. Transition 1
Comments: Decent transition. Bike
Comments: Terrible second half of the bike. I spent too much energy in the first half, and carried too much water with me. What would you do differently?: Train on hard hills at least once per week. Carry no water except in bottle cages (plenty of aid stations on the course). Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good transition Run
Comments: Very hard first 5 miles. I really picked up the pace the last half of the run. What would you do differently?: Shorten stride on the trails with hills to move up them quicker. Post race
Warm down: Walked a little. Ate plenty of fruit and a powerbar. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to lighten my bike however possible for hills. Also need to train with very difficult hills at least once per week. On the swim, start at the back of the pack and control breathing better. Event comments: This race is a tribute to the sport. A must for any aspiring triathlete. Last updated: 2006-04-22 12:00 AM

Woke up early to drive in from Paso Robles. Ate 1 peanut butter sandwich, 2 cliff bars, a bannana, and an apple. Advil for achilles pain suffered in training.
Just some light stretching in the transition area. Swam 25 meters or so to prepare for start.
