Pre-race routine:

Packed. Put air in tires & oiled chain at home. Good move since i usually end up not having time when i get there.
Event warmup:

10' EZ run, 5' EZ swim.
Swim
  • 13m 17s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Focused on staying long and reducing resistance. Stayed out of the pack, but still mananged to draft fairly well. Not a fantastic time, but for the effort put out it was very good.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

One of my better T1's. Fairly quick getting the shoes on and tied. Couple guys on my rack came out of the water with me so i tried to keep up with them.
Bike
  • 34m 49s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.68 mile/hr
Comments:

My best bike on this course so far. Better on the hills, both up and down. Good job getting up to speed on the down hills and maintaining speed/cadence on the uphills. Got into the smaller chain ring earlier than usual, with a smaller cog in back. This let me down shift on the uphills while maintaining cadence. Standing up toward the top of the hills was pretty good too.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Coupe of guys blocked me out going into the transition turn. They were unbuckling their shoes. Not really necessary on the road, they could have done this on the 1/4 mile approach to T2. Kind of pissed me off because they passed me right before they slowed down to unbuckle their shoes.
Run
  • 30m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Not such a bad time. Felt very good. Felt good on both the uphills and downhills. Started off nice and easy to get my breathing under control. About a minute after getting over the first short hill i was able to start picking it up. Beautiful weather definitely helped.
Post race
Warm down:

jumped in the lake, PBR.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just have to keep working on my run. It's getting there very slowly. Have to start carving out some time to work on my swim as well, but right now it's not too horrible. Run is really where i need the most work.

Event comments:

So bummed that this was the last race of the season. I have to drive over an hour each way to the race, but it's worth it. It's run so well and the course is very challenging. Love it! Can't wait 'til next year.
