Swim
Comments: This felt like a good swim for me. I sighted well, passed people in the water (I always start in the very back). What would you do differently?: Nothing...besides the obvious...swim faster Transition 1
Comments: Stopped to put on socks and shoes. Next year I will train with new shoes and no socks and I'll be able to take a minute off this times easily. What would you do differently?: No socks. Bike
Comments: I rocked the bike!! I've ridden the loop around the lake a few times in just under 1:30...the course added 3 miles and I killed my time. I could have cut a few minutes off my time if I didn't have to wait behind slow riders for a place to pass. I don't know why but every time I would say, "on your left" as I was passing a female rider she would go left, so I'd have to slow down and pass on the right...."YOUR OTHER LEFT!!!" What would you do differently?: Get out of the water sooner so I have less people to pass! Transition 2
Comments: always nail this one, no exceptions What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I'm just happy to have survived this course with both of my ankles. Running through a field of uneven ground that you can't see really sucked! I realize this is supposed to be an off-road event but this was a bit ridiculous. What would you do differently?: Run more than 2/week to train for this. More trail running. I came off the bike 15th overall and lost 7 places and got "chicked" on the run course. Next year I'll be more prepared! Post race
Warm down: Walked around, ate some different but good post-race food. Sat with Team Kraft and watched Zoe and Zed entertain the masses. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim and running speed. Event comments: This was a well executed race with plenty of volunteers. I would like to see a different run course (if possible) next year that has more trail running and less field running. I can't wait to come back next year and crush it!! Got to the race early to register and check the kids into XTerra Daycare aka they were volunteered (saved me $20). Normal routine of checking and double-checking stuff in transition, went to the bathroom a couple times: once for nature and once for nerves. High five the kids and it was time to get in the water.
Short swim before the gun went off.
