Pre-race routine:

The pre-race routine was to drive the 2 1/2 hours from Vegas to Rachel. We arrived at 11:30 for a 1AM start. We spent the extra time buying an alien stuffed toy at the Little A Le Inn and decking ourselves out with glow stick bracelets and alien head reflective tape.
Event warmup:

No warmup unless you count being anxious that the 2 other people of my group would get to the event in time. They took a 100 mile detour because they can't follow directions :)

Comments:

This run was a lot of fun. I've never run a race during the night, and all the glow sticks, reflective tape, and costumes made for an exciting time.

Event comments:

I would recommend this race to anyone who wants a fun race. The atmosphere was very good, and there is just something about running in the moonlight.

My advice to anyone looking into running this is to dress up and bring lots of stuff that glows and reflects. I would also recommend either taking the bus or spending the night in Alamo. The 2 1/2 hour drive back to Vegas was brutal.

When we left, the marathon and 51k people were still finishing and strung out over miles of highway, it was an impressive sight to see all these people lit up like christmas trees coming at you out of the dark.

Course: The course was an out and back on the E.T. Highway and was mostly flat. You could see the flashing lights at the turnaround for the whole way out, and the lights at the start for the whole way back. I'm not sure if that made it easier or harder, but it was kind of unique.
