Run
Comments: Once the race started and I got my heartrate up, the stomach issues went away. Did a good job of maintaining my target pace to finish sub 2hr. Kept under control and maintained 8:40 to 8:50 splits through the first half. I knew I was dialed in for sub 2hr at the turnaround if I maintained the pace and planned on putting the hammer down if I felt OK at 10 miles. Actually increased pace to about 8:30 from miles 7-10 because it was more downhill than on the way out. At 10 mile, legs were getting tight but I knew I could hang on for 3k and finished the last three miles in 8:21, 8:30 and 8:11. What would you do differently?: Would have just worn my tri top and not the UnderArmour. Starting off a little too cold would have been better than finishing a little too hot. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Stomach issues weren't a problem during the race, but waking up with chills and sweats all night made me a little weaker than otherwise. Event comments: Fun race put on by the Chamber of Commerce - they really pull the community together to support the race - lots of businesses and voluteers involved. Was really happy with my race, especially since I had second thoughts about racing due to stomach issues. Was able to maintain and exceed the paces I had planned and finished strong. Just wish I had finished one spot higher to make the podium. Last updated: 2011-08-15 12:00 AM

Woke up during the night with chills, fever and stomach ache. Barely was able to force down a banana and a gatorade for breakfast. Don't know if it was a bug or something I ate (garlic fries and quesadilla for lunch, prime rib for dinner). We woke up to a cold drizzle and the forecast called for rain showers. It was hard to decide what to wear. Wore a long sleeve UnderArmour and my tri-top. When the rain stopped, I was wishing I hadn't worn the UnderArmour, it got a little warm.
Not much warm up, ran a few hundred yards then hit the porta-potty. Ran a few hundred more then hit the porta-potty. Staying close to the porta-potty was more important than warm up given stomach issues that developed over night.
