Pre-race routine:

try and calm my nerves. Talk to other contestants.
Event warmup:

Walk to the swim start. It was .8 miles to the swim start from the transition. from where you have to park it is easily 1.2 miles. So that was my warm up.
Swim
  • 1h 41m 36s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great course. Really liked it. There was alot of contact but that is to be expected in a mass start of this size. If you are considering doing an Ironman make sure you are comfortable in the water and do not get frazzled when you have lots of contact.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. My logs are correct, I did not train as much as i should but just enough to get a finish.
Transition 1
  • 04m 15s
Comments:

Sucked not being able to leave shoes on the bike. Not sure why they dont allow this, but it was no big deal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This is the only thing i do well!
Bike
  • 7h 29m 30s
  • 112 miles
  • 14.95 mile/hr
Comments:

Around mile 50 i realized i was not sweating. So i starting chugging water and preform. Between mile 80-95 i ran out of water, this sucked! I was forced to stop at the 95 mile mark, and get re hydrated, and refuel. lost 10 min or so probably more like 20.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Transition 2
  • 06m 33s
Comments:

i did not have to rerack my bike. The volunteers took it as soon as i crossed the mat. it was great! I sat down put socks on and out the door. it is amazing how fast you lose time. I would have though i was in T2 for 2 or 3 min max. time flies when your not moving!
Run
  • 7h 02m 25s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 16m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I am a slow runner! even slower when i swim and bike prior!
