Swim
Comments: Water felt really warm after being in the rain all morning. I tried to increase my pace since I was only swimming the 750 rather than 1500, felt that I should have been quicker. last year I swam this in a little under 18 minutes...not sure why I was slower this year. What would you do differently?: I need to work on techinque and breathing. Swimming is my weak point and as soon as I get tired I start sighting every other stroke to get larger breaths in. Transition 1
Comments: I haven't upgraded to clipless pedals yet, so I put my running shoes on in T1 and jumped on the bike. Everything was soaked so it was tough to dry off and get shoes on. Bike
Comments: Roads were wet but I didn't have any problems flying down the downhills. I had a little bit of trouble with some of the uphills due to lack of training. What would you do differently?: I need to upgrade to clipless pedals and aero bars. I also need to work on hills more to build strength. Transition 2
Comments: T2 is always quick for me since I do not have bike shoes, I only have to rack the bike and take off my helmet. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I felt like I was going very slow on the run and had to walk through two of the water stations. I was surprised to see my finishing time under an hour. My run should have been closer to 8:30/mile but I think the heavy shoes and socks slowed me down. It also started pouring after the turn around all the way until the finish. What would you do differently?: Train more, running is my strong point and I should be faster regardless of the conditions. Post race
Warm down: hung out in the pavilion for 15-20 minutes with family waiting for rain to slow down. Skipped post race food due to weather. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather was horrible and I could have trained harder. Event comments: I like this race (I did the sprint last year and olympic this year), but I couldn't agree more with other people about the cost. They either need to increase the post-race events/swag/pre-race expo or they need to lower the cost. Last updated: 2011-08-16 12:00 AM

About an hour drive to race, had PB&J sandwich and powerade on the way.
Some light stretching, heavy rain didn't really leave an opportunity for warm-up.
