Swim
Comments: Bad swim, started off slow, and didn't sight until I almost ran into a dock on the south side of the lake. Wondering why no one came to tell me to get back on course. Felt like a slug the entire course, but time turned out to PR for the distance. I know I really worked it on the 2nd part of the triangle because I hadn't sighted. When you come back towards the boat launch the sun is in your eyes. What would you do differently?: Try to pay attention to the fact that I'm in a race, and maybe sight? Transition 1
Comments: Was ok, I wasn't going to wear socks, but after putting on my bike shoes changed my mind. Glad I did in the end. What would you do differently?: Not be so wishy washy about socks. Bike
Comments: Went great, could have pushed a little more. What would you do differently?: push a little harder. Transition 2
Comments: OK, so my struggle with transitions has changed this year. Ran to the wrong rack, then had to go looking for my rack..... Same issue as Issaquah in June, what is up with this? garmin actually shows 2 seconds longer.... What would you do differently?: Put a big X where my bike should be racked.... Run
Comments: 1st mile thought the calf/Achilles was going to cramp, really slowed it down but by the time I got to the hill for the 1st time, cramp went away and started working. I'm allergic to something in Lake Stevens this time of year, because my nose was running, running, running. When I came home & took a shower it stopped. What would you do differently?: Have Sandi use the rolling pin on my calf 2 days before the race to loosen it up more but I'm really happy with this run, PR for an Olympic! Post race
Warm down: walked around, congratulated LaVonne! What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim, bad swim. Event comments: I'm a fan of Budu, but you get what you pay for. Maybe the extra $50 is worth it sometimes? Last updated: 2011-08-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:30 so would have enough time for packet pick-up, stopped at Starbucks for coffee, drove to Lake Stevens. Went to get race packet, returned to car and put all the markings on. Went and got in line for Race Marking. Seems like they didn't really enforce non-athletes being in the transition until about 7:30.
Went for a 1/2 mile run about 35 minutes before the start. Went and got my wet suit, went to porta-potties and thought that is where we were supposed to start (Same place as the HIM), but instead this race starts and loops back to the boat launch. Walked back over put on wet suit for a small warm-up.
