Total Time = 3h 13m 37s
Overall Rank = 63 DQ/72
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 1/1
Pre-race routine:

We arrived 1h early and prepared everything.
Event warmup:

The little swim to get in the deep water before the start.
Swim
  • 48m 54s
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m 16s / 100 meters
Comments:

The current in the water was exceptionnaly strong and it was hard to swim against it. Even if it helped one way, it didn't compensate for the fact that I was almost not moving on half of the distance. I tought that the water would be too hot to be in a wetsuit. I don't have one myself and the last timed I used one, it was too warm and it was hard to breathe in it. I noticed this time that swimmers wearing wetsuits are really going faster. I thought that I would be faster than in my 1st Olympic Triathlon, but I was MUCH slower because of the current and the fact that I wasn't wearing a wetsuit this time.
What would you do differently?:

Buy and wear my own wetsuit. Train more.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

It was normal.
What would you do differently?:

Go always faster.
Bike
  • 1h 22m 24s
  • 43.2 kms
  • 31.46 km/hr
Comments:

Everything went fine. My brother was just behind me all the time. Way faster than in my first Olympic triathlon one month ago.
What would you do differently?:

Train more again.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I got disqualified for staying on my bike in the transition zone... No one told me I couldn't and I didn't knew it was a rule (It's my 2nd Triathlon). That's really bad! I didn't knew I was disqualified and I continued the race.
What would you do differently?:

Get off my bike sooner...
Run
  • 1h 02m 20s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 14s  min/km
Comments:

It was sunny and hot all the time with no shade. That's probably why I was a little slower than last time. The people that lives in front of the road were halping with water, that was really good! My brother was still just behind me all of the way. I did a sprint at the finish line and beat him by 5 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Have a hat and sunglasses.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink and eat for 15min + Swim in the river.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather : Really hot and sunny + the extreme current in the river

Event comments:

1 minute faster than my 1st Olympic Triathlon and 5 second faster than my brother. I hoped to have a better time but it's ok considering the swim part and the weather. The difficulty of this race is higher than the Ottawa River Triathlon (My 1st Olympic Triathlon). Considering everything, I'm happy with my time! I'm disqualified because of my T2, but now I'll remember that rule!
