Age Group Rank = 2/8
Pre-race routine:

Overslept a bit, coffee and bagels, dressed and out the door in 45 minutes, more coffee on the way there. Set-up transition, only end spot was on the back row, worked out well as it was the first bike coming from the swim in and run out chutes.

Mingled with participants, got some uniforms to the TriCajuns who were there and needed them. Took a group picture with TriCajuns.
Event warmup:

Ran back and forth to the restroom while waiting for my turn to swim
Swim
  • 03m 38s
  • 219 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not bad for me. I just started back in the pool three weeks ago, and was just getting to where I could swim this distance without stopping. Took it easy throughout and, surprisingly, my time was no more than 10 seconds slower than in recent years.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Longish run from pool, mount line was crowded, has to navigate my way through to get a clear space to mount. Took a little longer than I would have liked to get intl the shoes, but you don't lose any speed doing this on the driveway leading out of Bourgeois.
Bike
  • 22m 49s
  • 8 miles
  • 21.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Alomost took out the guy ahead of me in my AG coming out the driveway as I went a little wide to avoid slower cyclists in the inside lane. Passed that guy, then he passed me right back going up the first little hill. Settled in about six lengths behind him until we got through the subdivision, then pulled ahead and went a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

Little struggle with the shoes but not bad at all.
Run
  • 16m 31s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad pace for me, probably right at 9m/m. As i approached Bourgeois, tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and went down hard, lost some skin on my knee and palm.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Taking two months off training earlier this summer. Been back at it six weeks but witht he heat and extra weight progress has been slow. Getting there though.

Event comments:

Good race for first-timers and experienced people who want to hurt for a short time. Fundraiser for a good cause but amentities are few and details are neglected.
