Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30am. Half bagel with peanutbutter. Loaded bike on the truck and lubed chain and gears with spray. It seems that dispite how early I get to an event that I am always rushed and wishing I had more time. Should have streached more.
Event warmup:

Short swim.
Swim
  • 13m 5s
  • 586 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall good swim. Last year the water had a strong fuel taste this year it was not noticable.
What would you do differently?:

Consentrate on form and get a start position out front. I feel that I was catching and passing people more and more as the race went on. Was never over exerted probably could have worked harder without over doing it.
Transition 1
  • 04m 34s
Comments:

Long run from swim exit to T1 area. Not in a bad way. Nice carpet covering path no slippery or rocky spots.
What would you do differently?:

Forgot to run after getting out of the water. I helped the guy in front of me with his wetsuit zipper and then asked him for help with mine. Started running after someone passed me running.
Bike
  • 34m 1s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.17 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Could have worked harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

high five the family on the way through transition. Went to wrong rack first. Racked bike, changed shoes, set garmin for run. Grabbed extra water bottle for run and was glad to have it.
What would you do differently?:

look for bike rack from perspective of all entry and exit points.
Run
  • 17m 52s
  • 3 miles
  • 05m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Did not know what exactly the run course was and did not do a good job of planning my level of effort. Latched on to a younger runner half way through. He was running a good pace but I think I could have gone faster.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Half bagel, bannana, muscle milk, coconut water drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably could have gotten a better nights sleep ( move the kids to there own bed earlier).

Event comments:

Event staff were friendly, helpful and Enthusiastic! Lots of volunteers. Bike course was well marked with staff at every turn.
